The Best High Schools in MD, DC & VA
Education is one of the greatest assets any individual can have. As easy as it would be for me to share the best schools (and it would definitely save you a lot of time!), as a Realtor I cannot make that statement and I certainly don’t want to influence anyone’s decision.
Every family is different and personal preferences along with children’s abilities will help determine the best school for your family.
As a father of two daughters who had the painstaking task of searching for a great school for my teenager, I’m happy to share my experience with you.
My wife Ashley and I started the search for a great school district just like any other family.
You ever hear that saying, Location, Location, Location? Most people know that it usually is in reference to Real Estate and where to buy a great home, but this time, it was in reference to the school system. At the start of our search we talked to our friends to hear about their experiences during this very challenging process. We determined that Montgomery County was the best place for us, began to look at MCPS’s website, and skimmed through the 25 high schools in Montgomery County. We made sure to look at the elementary and middle schools that filtered into those high schools before ultimately choosing the neighborhood that best suited our needs. Once we narrowed the options down, we were able to purchase our home in 2007 and rebuild it to match our lifestyle, tastes and needs. Happily, our home still suits our needs and we have enjoyed many wonderful memories there so far.
My construction and Real Estate experience in the county drastically helped us to complete the daunting search for a great home and school and ever since then I have been helping families like mine get exactly what they want.
With over 160,000 students, from more than 157 countries, speaking 150 different languages, the Montgomery County Public School system is the largest in Maryland and the 15th largest in the United States.
Below are some stats from MCPS ‘s web site that may aid in your decision:
